TAN SRI DATO’ SRI PROF. IR. DR. SAHOL HAMID BIN ABU BAKAR

 

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid bin Abu Bakar, the patron of Flood Control Research Centre, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) is a professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, UiTM. He has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the university since 1st. January 2010. He is also a Guest Professor of Civil Engineering at WAREM (Water Resources Engineering), University of Stuttgart, Germany and has been awarded the title of Honorary Doctorate from the university. Although he has been entrusted with numerous significant positions of academic administrators, and currently hold the highest position in the largest university in Malaysia, he has always been enthusiastic in finding solutions in flood problems nationwide and worldwide. He has been involved with various research projects in the field of his expertise, including flood control, hydraulics, water resources, economy, environmental engineering and building construction and received several international awards for the research products. His vast experiences in management is of an outstanding achievement.

PIERRE Y. JULIEN

 

Dr. Julien is professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University. As Professional Engineer, he has completed projects for 50 different agencies including UNESCO and the World Bank. Dr. Julien authored more than 500 scientific contributions including two textbooks, 20 lecture manuals and book chapters, 170 refereed journal articles including 90 full papers in scientific journals, 150 professional presentations, 190 conference papers and 120 technical reports. He supported and guided more than 100 graduate students (including 37 Ph.D.) to complete engineering degrees. He delivered 15 keynote addresses at international conferences. He received the H.A. Einstein Award for his research on sedimentation and river mechanics.
