Dato’. Prof. Ir. Dr. Sahol Hamid bin Abu Bakar, a professor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Mara, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the university since 1st. January 2010, after serving for two years (2007-2009) at the Ministry of Higher Education as the Director, Project Management Office (PMO). Since 2000 until present, he has been appointed as a Guest Professor of Civil Engineering at WAREM (Water Resources Engineering), University of Stuttgart, Germany. During this period, he was often invited to the prestigious university to arrange courses in his field of expertise at postgraduate level, in addition to supervising Ph.D. students. In appreciation of his contribution in the scientific field for a decade at Stuttgart University, he has been awarded the title of Honorary Doctorate from the university. In fact, his efforts to establish contact with universities in Germany has helped to foster networking between Malaysia and Germany through various initiatives, particularly in the field of higher education, language, art and culture, in addition to science and engineering. In the area of his expertise, he has also gained the recognition through appointment as Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia; Fellow of the Institution of Engineering Malaysia; Honorary Research Fellow (2002) of the University of Sussex, United Kingdom; and Visitor of the Graduate School, Purdue University, United States ( 1991). He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Professional Engineer, through the Board of Engineers Malaysia. 
Within the last five years, he has been involved as a researcher with around 19 research projects in the field of his expertise, including flood control, hydraulics, water resources, environmental engineering and building construction and received several international awards for the research products. 

Dr. Danniel Gunaratnam was educated in Australia and obtained his Bachelor of Engineering(1962) and Masters in Hydrology (1966)at the University of Adelaide. Subsequently he obtained his PhD at Mass Institute of Technology 1970 in Water Resources and Hydrodynamics. His work experiences (1963-2006) covers some 15 countries working for Asian Development Bank(4yeras), World Bank (20years), and Private Consulting (7years) and in University Teaching (5years) in water resources and environmental engineering. Since retirement from World Bank in 2001 he has been a water resources and environmental advisor for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank and private firms on water resources, environmental engineering and policy, and in resettlement livelihood restoration.

Prof. Dr. M. Perumal is the Head of Department (Hydrology) at Indian Institute of technology (IIT) Roorkee, India. Dr. Perumal got his Masters’ qualification (Hydraulics & Water Resources Engineering) from IIT Kanpur and (Engineering Hydrology) from National Institute of Ireland, Galway.Then, in year 1995, he obtained his Doctorate (Civil Engineering) from University of Roorkee (now IIT).He has experienced in academic and research for about 31 years. His research interest focus on dam-break modeling, flood forecasting, hydrometry and climate change modeling.

Prof Dr. Mukand Singh Babel currently serve as the Coordinator of the Water Engineering and management (WEM) field of study in Asian Institute of Technology AIT’s School of Engineering and Technology. Dr. Babel joined AIT in 2002, but has been associated with the Institute in several capacities since 1997. He obtained his Doctorate (Water Resources Engineering) and Master’s (Soil and Water Engineering) from AIT. His research interests include hydrologic and water resources modeling as applied to integrated water resources management, watershed modeling and management, water resources allocation and management, water resources and socio-economic development, water supply system and management, climate change impact and adaptation, groundwater resources management and drought analysis, forecasting and management.

Prof. Dr. Pierre Y. Julien completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at Laval University in the field of hydraulics. He pursued post-doctoral studies in sedimentation at Colorado State University in 1983. Dr. Julien is a Registered Professional Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the field of sediment transport and river engineering. He has carried out projects for more than 25 different professional organizations and governmental agencies. His research interests includes river rehabilitation and flood control, computer modeling of fate and transport of metals from watersheds, two-dimensional modeling of flash floods from moving rainstorms using GIS data bases and radar precipitation data and many others
